Literally translated as ‘house of the city’, the NH Hotel De Ville is located on one of the nicest streets in the historic city centre of Groningen.
Get cycling in order to explore Groningen; a city where 50% of journeys are made by bicycle. As the capital of the province with the same name, Groningen has plenty for visitors to see. The hotel is close to the bustle of the pedestrian area Grote Markt, and the food market at Vismarkt, and is home to the fourth tallest church tower in the Netherlands. One of the oldest Dutch universities, the University of Groningen, has its historic academic centres nearby. Groningen has a rich culture, heavily influenced by the student community and its own history. A mix of the old and new can be found on the city streets. You may struggle to move around the city by car, and parking is limited. Rent a bicycle, or walk to see the main attractions.

Groninger Museum (1.5km by bicycle) – Designed and built in 1994, in futuristic style, this ship shaped museum houses an assortment of local and international modern art.

Noorderplantsoen (1km) – This pleasant public park contains some of the old walls of the city.
